Handweavers Guild of Boise Valley

Supporting Weaving and Spinning in the Boise, Idaho area

MeetingsAdelman House

The Handweavers Guild of Boise Valley usually meets the first Saturday of the month. There are a few exceptions to work around holidays and the break taken in the summer.  Most meetings are held at the Adelmann House at the Idaho Historical Museum.   It is the last one in the row of historical houses east of the Museum.  This link will take you to a map  of 610 Julia Davis Dr    Boise, ID 83702-7646

Meeting time is 11:30am unless otherwise noted.  Meetings start with a discussion of upcoming events, things we need to know or do as a guild, and misc. other topics.  There is a Show-and-Tell session so we can see what everyone has been accomplishing.  The Program starts about 1:00pm after a short break for visiting the Guild library and social time.  You might want to bring a lunch.  Programs last from one to two hours.  Visitors are welcome!

Museum Comes to Life - September 25, 2010

Each year the Handweavers Guild of Boise Valley participates in Museum Comes to Life. It is held the last Saturday of September at the Idaho historical Museum in Julia Davis Park.

We will be demonstrating for the public and showing off what our members have done during the last year.  Two displays will be set up.  First we will have the challenge for the public to vote for their favorites from.  We will also have a display of some of the other things that have been woven by our members.

The Challenge for 2010 is Thick and Thin.  For the 2010 Challenge we are going to mix things up a bit, that is, mix up the yarns you choose for your weaving projects. Each woven entry must use an obvious combination of thick and thin yarns. The thick and thin yarns need to stand out as part of the design process. So let's step out of the uniform world and try something new.  Sign up sheet for the 2010 Challenge.

Please plan on attending (in period costume) to help with handing out ballots and demonstrations.  There will be a sign up sheet at the August meeting or contact Vila to volunteer.

We will be setting up for Museum Comes to Life on September 24th at 12:00pm. Please come help if you can.
